NEC reference

Questions reference the NEC 2020 edition, NEC Article 250. Answers follow NEC Article 250. The Article 250 section numbering used here (250.30, 250.50, 250.52, 250.53, 250.92, 250.94, 250.102, 250.104, 250.118, 250.119, 250.122, 250.142) and the values in Tables 250.66, 250.102(C)(1), and 250.122 are unchanged across the 2017, 2020, and 2023 editions. Conductor circular-mil areas come from NEC Chapter 9 Table 8. Table 250.102(C)(1) and Table 250.66 share the same conductor sizes for phase conductors up to 1100 kcmil copper / 1750 kcmil aluminum; they diverge only above that range, where 250.102(C)(1) switches to the 12.5% rule.
